Here is a meteor photo I took on November 17, 2009. The photos have been processed into .png files but even in the original RAW image the meteor appears to spiral. I think this unwanted effect is called aliasing. Not sure about this though.

Canon T1i camera, Canon EF 15 mm f/2.8 fisheye, Aperture value 2.8, ISO 800, Focal Length 15 mm, 15 second exposure.

(Also included at bottom of page is a meteor photo taken with an 18-55 mm lens with the same camera which shows a truer image of a meteor.)

Below is a photo taken with the same Canon T1i camera using a Canon EF 18-55mm lens. Other meteor photos captured with this lens show meteors to be straight and natural looking.
